Ahhh! Animals! On today's podcast, we're talking to Jocelyn Nand, executive director of the Family Counselling Centres. Her work includes animal-assisted therapy with the help of her co-therapist (and dog!), Watson.

We'll talk about the work that Jocelyn does to help a variety of clients deal with emotional dysregulation issues, impulse control, behavioral struggles, anxiety, low self-esteem, and work with those who have sensory struggles.

We'll also discuss our impact on the mental health of animals and how positive reinforcement when training pets can go a very long way.

Jocelyn Nand

Jocelyn Nand is a registered provisional psychologist and the executive director of the Family Counselling Centres (Beaumont, Edmonton & Leduc). She has been practicing for 8 years.

She works with children, adolescents and adults. She has extensive training in play therapy and has taken levels I,II and III certification with the Canadian Play Therapy Association. She is a trained facilitator for Circle of Security Parenting, has taken training in Child Parent Relationship Therapy, Theraplay, EMDR (basic certification), level one training in Animal Assisted Play Therapy as well as working towards her level V certificate with the Canadian Association for Sandplay Therapy.

Jocelyn is passionate about working with attachment-related issues, trauma, grief/loss, as well as anxiety. Jocelyn finds her work in private practice fulfilling. She strives to help individuals and families feel empowered in their mental health journey and connect with one another and their communities. She advocates for preventative mental health approaches, and values depth-focused work.
