Laura is a stay-at-home mom who raises her kids, loves her dogs, and is a good partner, all while being in a wheelchair and having to relearn everything she previously knew how to do. She has become immersed in the once-foreign world of disability, and she has now found herself an advocate for it.
She recently wrote a children’s book titled 'Mommy Grew A Wheelchair,' which features images of Laura (before and after her paralysis), her two kids, and the family’s two big, shaggy dogs.

ABOUT OUR GUEST
Laura McKenzie is a gardening, stay-at-home mom of two. She tries her hardest most days, but after being spontaneously paralyzed on January 1, 2023, expectations in life have shifted, and honesty has gotten very loud. She continues to raise her kids, love her dogs, and be a good partner, all while in a wheelchair and having to relearn everything she previously knew how to do. She has become immersed in a foreign world of disability, becoming an advocate for it. At the same time, she does tend to swear a lot and is a very open person, happy to talk too much about lifestyle changes, complaints, and coping skills.
